Caesars Announces $435 Million Overhaul of New Orleans Hotel and Casino in Preparation for 2025 Super Bowl

Caesars Hotel and Casino in New Orleans: A Comprehensive Renovation

After four years of construction delays, the renewed Caesars Hotel and Casino in New Orleans has finally opened its doors to the public. This ambitious $435 million renovation of the former Harrah’s property has modernized the hotel and casino, setting the stage for what is expected to be a bustling hospitality hub in anticipation of the 2025 Super Bowl.

A Transformation Years in the Making

Renovations are always a balancing act of vision and practicality. The journey for Caesars began with a construction fence bearing the phrase, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” a nod to both the scale of the renovation and the delays that accompanied it. Over the past four years, unforeseen challenges, primarily due to post-pandemic inflation, resulted in budget increases exceeding $100 million. Despite these challenges, Caesars general manager Samir Mowad notes that the project is now “ready to be unveiled to the public,” showcasing an impressive reimagining of an establishment that has been part of the New Orleans landscape for nearly 25 years.

“It’s like changing the tires on a moving bus,” remarked Mowad, describing the complexities faced during the renovation.

Revamping the Gaming Experience

At the core of the transformation is a complete overhaul of the 115,000-square-foot gaming area. The gaming floor now includes a new World Series of Poker Room and a revamped Caesars Sportsbook, highlighted by a massive 147-foot wall of TV screens that will attract sports enthusiasts. The new layout also features an exclusive High Limit gaming section for high-stakes players with minimum bets starting at $100.

For those looking for more privacy, the casino introduces private Salon rooms that facilitate personalized table games and mingling with sports and entertainment celebrities. “At the point you’re in the Salon, everyone is a celebrity,” added Stacey Dorsey, director of security and facilities.

Luxury Accommodations and Dining Options

Enhancements in the hotel department feature a new 15-story, 340-room hotel annex along Convention Center Boulevard. The entrance boasts a valet porte cochère, enhancing sophistication from the moment guests arrive. The lower two floors are dedicated to a "hotel within a hotel," featuring exclusive Nobu brand accommodations with 54 luxury rooms, including 12 suites designed for the casino’s elite clientele.

Culinary offerings have also been significantly elevated. The highly acclaimed Nobu restaurant, co-founded by celebrated chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro, and partner Meir Teper, is open daily at the casino level. Guests can enjoy a variety of sushi, sashimi, and signature hot and cold dishes. Mowad expressed excitement about the Nobu partnership, emphasizing the unique appeal it adds to the dining landscape at Caesars.

Additionally, the culinary scene is enhanced further with Emeril’s Brasserie, a unique establishment from celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse, situated on the Canal Street side. Lagasse’s brasserie, distinctive to New Orleans, is expected to leave a lasting impression on diners.

For guests looking for faster dining options, a new 12,000-square-foot food court features fast-casual offerings from renowned chefs such as Nina Compton, Bobby Flay, and Buddy Valastro, delivering a delightful fusion of international and local flavors right at their fingertips.

A New Lounge Experience

The renovation journey also includes the creation of Octavia, a stylish new lounge that has replaced the former Masquerade dance club. With a stunning $750,000 chandelier and jaw-dropping design, Octavia establishes itself as a premier venue in the New Orleans nightlife scene. Mowad emphasized that the volume of the space is what makes it truly impressive.

Caesars New Orleans: A Premier Destination

With its extensive renovations, Caesars New Orleans is set to become a key destination for both gaming enthusiasts and culinary aficionados. Mowad emphasized their mission to provide a high-end experience that encompasses gaming, dining, and overall leisure. At the core of their ambition lies the phrase “Caesarize it,” representing their commitment to enhancing every aspect of the property.

This significant transformation aligns with a broader wave of revitalization projects in downtown New Orleans, which include a $530 million Four Seasons Hotel, $570 million renovations to the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and $41 million renovations to the Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium. Collectively, these investments are reshaping the city’s hospitality landscape and preparing for an exciting era ahead with the 2025 Super Bowl on the horizon.

The renewed Caesars Hotel and Casino symbolizes more than just renovation; it reflects a reinvigorated commitment to luxury and hospitality that is sure to leave an indelible mark on New Orleans’ vibrant tourism industry.
