Elias Gutierrez Secures Second High Roller Title, Adding to His Triumphs in Cyprus

Elias Gutierrez: Rising Star of Poker in Northern Cyprus

Staring at the felt in the Turkish territory of Northern Cyprus, Spanish poker professional Elias Gutierrez has recently made headlines by winning not one but two prestigious high roller titles, amassing over $800,000 in winnings during an extraordinary week on the European Poker Tour (EPT). This remarkable performance has catapulted Gutierrez from relative obscurity to being recognized as one of the most in-form players in Spain, making him a worthy subject of attention in the poker community.

The EPT Cyprus $25,000 Second Chance High Roller

In a thrilling display of skill and strategy, Gutierrez clinched victory in the EPT Cyprus $25,000 Second Chance High Roller event, dominating a talented field of players that included some of the best in the game. With 50 entries, the prize pool soared to over $1,200,000, distributing payouts to just seven fortunate players. The final table was a testament to high-stakes poker, filled with tension and unexpected turns.

Final Table Results

Gutierrez emerged victorious with a first-place prize of $390,200. Here are the final table results:

Position Player Country Prize
1st Elias Gutierrez Spain $390,200
2nd Teun Mulder Netherlands $258,100
3rd Hassan Nashar Gambia $174,100
4th Samuel Mullur Austria $132,100
5th Kayhan Mokri Norway $102,000
6th Ognyan Dimov Bulgaria $81,000
7th Simone Andrian Italy $63,000

The Bubble and Early Exits

The tournament kicked off with excitement and suspense, as Roman Hrabec pushed all-in with an eight-six hand on a board featuring J-T-4-6-7. However, Teun Mulder crushed the competition with pocket sixes, making a triumphant set and bursting the bubble. All remaining players were now guaranteed a payday.

Simone Andrian was the unfortunate first casualty at the final table. With pocket queens, he made a courageous call against Mulder’s ace-ten but fell victim to a flop that favored Mulder, leading to a disappointing exit that netted him $63,000.

Ognyan Dimov followed shortly after in sixth place, his hopes dashed by Mulder once again. Dimov’s ace-eight couldn’t catch up to Mulder’s pocket fives, and a board that failed to connect sent Dimov packing.

Gutierrez on the Rise

As the tournament progressed, Kayhan Mokri became the fifth player to leave the table, falling to Gutierrez. Mokri went all-in with king-ten, but Gutierrez’s ace-nine proved superior, further solidifying his rising dominance.

Young Austrian Samuel Mullur, who appeared strong in the early stages, eventually succumbed to Gutierrez as well. In a heated showdown, Mullur’s ace-three couldn’t overcome Gutierrez’s ace-jack, and with that vanish, yet another contender was eliminated.

Hassan Nashar of Gambia was next to go, falling in third place after a pre-flop clash with Gutierrez. Nashar’s ace-queen was outmatched by Gutierrez’s ace-four, with the board revealing a sequence that left Nashar with nothing but disappointment.

Heads-Up and Victory

With just two players remaining, Gutierrez held a commanding stack of 10.22 million against Teun Mulder’s 2.27 million. The heads-up battle was nothing short of exhilarating, featuring a pivotal hand where Gutierrez shoved with jack-six after a board showed J-5-3-4-3. Mulder, holding a bluff-catching five-deuce, had no luck as Gutierrez took down the pot and clinched the title.

Teun Mulder, while taking home a handsome runner-up prize of $258,100, couldn’t overshadow Gutierrez’s monumental win, which not only awarded him the coveted ‘Spadie’ trophy but also propelled his total live tournament earnings to $1.3 million.

The Future Looks Bright

Gutierrez, affectionately known in the poker community as ‘ZeroPoker,’ has quickly made a name for himself as a content creator and ambassador for PokerStars. His recent victories have significantly boosted his profile, placing him in the top 25 of the All-Time Money List for Spanish players on The Hendon Mob.

As he basked in the glory of his triumph at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa in Northern Cyprus, Gutierrez stands proudly as a testament to the potential for success in the high-stakes world of professional poker. With his latest achievements, he has truly established himself as a formidable force to be reckoned with, and fans eagerly await his next moves in the ever-evolving gambling landscape.
